#tgthr2013 Opening Night Party w/ Tiga and Mistaker

You have to respect a guy like Tiga. Not only is he an amazing producer and head of Turbo Records, which is KILLING IT this year, he's got some serious character. Spending half your career being called a hack because you did a cover of a Corey Hart song might affect some people. Not this guy though. Tiga refuses to compromise his sound, making dance music that sits right at the edge of pop music. It's catchy, but it's also sophisticated and strange. Imagine if Katy Perry threw in a section of dark industrial synths and bwoomping analog bass. That's kind of what Tiga sounds like.

It's important to remember, though, that in addition to his production skills, Tiga is a taste-maker. He's brilliant at two taste-making skills: 1) taking talented young artists like Duke Dumont and Nautiluss and nurturing them into club-demolishing producers and 2) identifying what tracks people have never heard of but will dance their asses off to if it's played in the right context.

Tiga's music is the music of the future. Keep your Shazam handy.

18+, $15 adv $20-25 day of show
